Mouse model uses cell therapy to complete axon remyelination

Arjun Saha and his colleagues published a new report on JCIInsight, a cell therapy product called DUOC-01, which is the shaft of mice treated with a demyelinating chemical. It is possible to promote the remyelination of the umbilical cord.

After toxic demyelination, we transplanted DUOC-01 cells in the toxic cord blood into mice. The DUOC-01 treatment accelerated the remyelination. These results indicate that cell products derived from cord blood can promote neuron repair and remyelination. More clinical trials are needed to determine whether it will benefit patients with demyelinating diseases.
