【Animal Modeling】-Aluminum hydroxide induced chronic epilepsy model

  1. Material animal model: rhesus monkey, medicine: aluminum hydroxide, anesthetic.

  2. Modeling method After the animal is anesthetized, the dura is incised under aseptic conditions, and 4% 0.1-0.2 ml sterile aluminum hydroxide emulsion is injected into the cortex at two or more sensorimotor points. Be careful not to let the medicine flow through. For the buffy coat, an absorbable gelatin film can be placed between the buffy coat and the dura.

  3. Modeling principle Aluminum hydroxide causes chronic epilepsy in animals.

  4. Make changes after creating the model. Spontaneous seizures usually occur 35 to 60 days after administration. If the lesion is severe, it may occur within a few weeks after surgery. If the lesion is mild and limited, it is difficult to attack.

  5. Precautions Sterilize surgical instruments to prevent surgical infections, surgical trauma should be as small as possible, and strictly aseptic operation. Keep the breeding room at the best possible temperature and humidity.
