[Animal Modeling]-Pathological observation of radiation pneumonia in Kunming mice

Objective: To study the pathological changes during the occurrence of radiation pneumonia in mice from Zhanjiang Kunming.

Method: Use 6MV X-ray 200y single full chest irradiation to create a model. Samples were taken at 7, 14, and 28 days after irradiation for HE staining and pathological observation, and the film ProPlus imaging system was used to determine the alveolar wall and alveolar thickness. Quantitative determination and analysis of the density of the lung interstitial area.

Result: After irradiation, with the passage of time, alveolar atrophy, lung septum enlargement and inflammatory cell infiltration increased, and after 28 days, alveolar collapse, hardening and mild fibrosis were observed. The measured values of alveolar wall thickness, alveolar space surface density and lung interstitial surface density are very different.

Conclusion: In the Kunming mouse radiation pneumonia model replicated by the above method, the pathological change process is consistent with the course of radiation pneumonia.
