Objective To conduct a preliminary investigation on the infection of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in laboratory animals.
Methods The double antigen sandwich ELISA method was used to detect the new coronavirus antibodies in the serum of experimental animals submitted by each experimental animal production unit in 2020, including 90 mice of 25 strains, 38 rats of 5 strains, and 20 guinea pigs. There are 27 rabbits of 3 strains and 5 beagles.
Results In 2020, 90 mice, 38 rats, 20 guinea pigs, 27 rabbits, and 5 beagle dogs were submitted for inspection by each experimental animal production unit in 2020. The double antigen sandwich ELISA was used to detect new coronavirus antibodies, and the results were all Negative.
Conclusion Preliminary research has not been able to confirm the presence of the new coronavirus in laboratory animals.
