Therapeutic effect of honeycomb combined with acupuncture on rats with allergic rhinitis

Objective: To explore the therapeutic effect of honeycomb combined with acupuncture on AR rats and its mechanism. Methods: A rat model of allergic rhinitis (AR) was prepared with ovalbumin. After 10 days of treatment with honeycomb and acupuncture, the behavioral observation score, serum histamine, IgE, IFN-γ, IL-4 content, and nasal secretion were evaluated. The quantity, the number of eosinophils and mast cells in the nasal mucosa, and the coefficients of thymus and spleen were used as indicators. At the same time, fluticasone propionate nasal spray was used as a positive control to comprehensively investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of honeycomb combined acupuncture on AR rats. Results: Compared with the model group, the behavioral scores of rats after honeycomb combined with acupuncture treatment were reduced; serum histamine, IgE, IL-4 content, nasal secretions, eosinophils and mast cells in nasal mucosa were significantly reduced; serum The content of IFN-γ increased; the coefficient of thymus increased, and the coefficient of spleen decreased significantly.

Conclusion: Honeycomb combined with acupuncture has a significant therapeutic effect on AR model rats.
