Establishment of rat model of ulcerative colitis with yang deficiency of spleen and kidney

Objective: To establish a rat model of ulcerative colitis with yang deficiency of the spleen and kidney.

Method: The UC animal model of yang deficiency of spleen and kidney was established by administering rhubarb decoction, intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone and TNBS (2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid) mixed with ethanol enema. Sixty rats were randomly divided into blank group, spleen-kidney yang deficiency UC model 7, 14 and 21 d groups. The serum levels of FT3, FT4, and T in each group were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Results: Compared with the blank group, the contents of FT3, FT4, and T in the serum of the UC model of spleen and kidney yang deficiency type 7, 14 and 21 d groups were reduced (P<0.05); especially the 21 d group was significantly different .

Conclusion: FT3, FT4, T are sensitive indicators of spleen and kidney yang deficiency. Detection of serum FT3, FT4, T can better prove the spleen and kidney yang deficiency; it proves that the UC animal model of spleen and kidney yang deficiency is successfully rebuilt.
