Preliminary study on the establishment of quail gout model with high protein and high calcium diet combined with restricted drinking water

OBJECTIVE: By simulating clinical high-protein and high-calcium diets to induce quail gout in quail quail, preliminary study the method of establishing quail gout model, and provide basis for the research on the pathogenesis of gout and the screening of prevention and treatment drugs.

Method: 36 30-day-old male healthy Defaque quails were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups based on body weight and blood uric acid level, namely the control group, the model I group and the model II group, each with 12. The control group quail feeding basis Diet, the model group was fed a high-protein and high-calcium diet (the dietary crude protein content was 29.5%, the calcium content was 7.8%), the control group and the model I group had free drinking water, and the model II group was restricted to drinking water for 4 hours a day, and the experiment lasted 50 days. Detect quail serum, feces, urine and uric acid levels, at the same time, detect renal function and conduct histopathological section observation.

Results: High-protein and high-calcium diets can significantly increase quail serum uric acid levels; significantly reduce fecal and urine uric acid levels; increase serum creatinine and urea nitrogen levels; cause quail kidney urate deposition. Combination of high-protein and high-calcium diets Restriction of drinking water can aggravate the increase in blood uric acid levels and kidney urate deposition, causing some quails to develop joint swelling, deformation and other symptoms of gout.

Conclusion: Feeding high-protein and high-calcium diets and restricting the amount of drinking water can establish a gout quail model, and its pathogenesis is more consistent with the clinical etiology, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of gout. It provides reference for the basic and drug development research of gout.
