Objective: To study the therapeutic effect of cyclooxygenase inhibitor fenvid on lumbar disc herniation.
Method: Simulate rats by compressing the dorsal root ganglion and implanting the autologous caudate nucleus pulposus into the lumbar spine. For 28 consecutive days, the dose of COX (cyclooxygenase) inhibitor Fenved was 0.051 g/kg. The animal's motor function score, mechanical stimulation contraction response measurement, animal thigh circumference measurement and gait measurement were performed. 28 days after administration, the lumbar spine (L4-L6) and its nerves were fixed with 4% formaldehyde solution for histopathological examination, and serum and root damaged tissue were collected to measure the concentration of inflammatory factors.
Results: COX inhibitor Fenvid can improve animal motor function score, mechanical foot reflex threshold 50%, thigh circumference ratio (modeling/contralateral), social neurological function index (SFI), pathological changes of dorsal root ganglia and intervertebral tissue It can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors (PGE2, COX-2, NO, IL-1β, IL-6) in serum and lesions.
Conclusion: COX inhibitors can improve the symptoms of lumbar disc herniation in rats.
