OBJECTIVE: To compare the timeliness, success rate and mortality of the rat middle cerebral artery embolization (MCAO) model established by ordinary carotid artery puncture and conventional thread embolization.
Method: 32 male rats were randomly divided into the common carotid artery puncture group and the conventional suture group, and the suture was inserted from the common carotid artery to embolize the middle cerebral artery. Using the Bedson neurological function scoring standard, the neurological function was scored 24 hours after the operation to calculate the 24-hour success rate and mortality rate.
Results: The time, success rate and mortality rate of the MCAO model established by common carotid artery puncture and conventional surgery were (82.3±17.4) seconds and (164.6±22.0) seconds, respectively. The difference between the two is significant (P0.05); 6.25% and 18.75% respectively, the difference is not significant (P \u003c0.05).
Conclusion: It is easy to prepare a rat middle cerebral artery embolization model by puncturing the common carotid artery, saving time, with little trauma and easy operation.
