【Animal Modeling】-How to establish hepatitis B virus infection model in vivo and in vitro

The application of different types of HBV infection models in vivo and in vitro has greatly promoted the research of HBV biological characteristics, infection process, pathogenic mechanism, etc., as well as the development and evaluation of anti-HBV related drugs and vaccines. But HBV is specific to tissue and species infection, divided by gender, any existing HBV infection model is more suitable to show the pathological changes of HBV infection and changes in the life cycle of HBV, which are similar to humans, you can’t. However, in different juvenile hepatitis B virus infection models, young animals showed varying degrees of hepatitis B virus infection, and even symptoms of chronic hepatitis B, leading to longer infection time. The emergence of these models provides important references for future optimization and new establishment of hepatitis B models. At the same time, the discovery of new functions in NTCP may accelerate the development of future HBV infection models and accelerate the research process related to HBV.
