【Animal Modeling】-How to build a rat pneumonia model?

Objective: To explore the establishment of a rat model of Pseudomonas aeruginosa pneumonia, and to provide experimental evidence for follow-up research.

Method: 48 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: control group, B tracheal injection group, C tracheal intubation infection group and D rhinorrhea infection group. After adapting to feeding for 3 days, various modeling interventions were performed to dynamically change the weight, temperature, white blood cell count, and pathological changes of lung tissue in each subgroup within 5, 10, and 15 days.

Result: The behavioral symptoms, body weight, body temperature, white blood cell and pathological symptoms of lung tissue inflammation in each model group are significantly different from those in the control group; it has been confirmed. Next to the control group is negative.

Conclusion: Infection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa through the nasal route can provide a high-quality pneumonia model for rats. The transmission route avoids interference with the inflammatory response caused by the surgical wound, is simple, easy to implement and easy to use.
