Depression is a common mood disorder, caused by many reasons. The main clinical feature is significant and persistent depression, which is irrelevant to the context. In severe cases, suicidal ideation and suicidal behavior may occur. The study of animal models of depression is the basis for studying the pathogenesis of depression and developing clinical drugs. Among them, the stress model is the most common animal model of depression, because it can simulate the onset of depression very well, and is easy to model, and is widely used in basic research on depression.
This article reviews the main methods for evaluating stress-induced depression animal models, and provides references for establishing animal models of depression.
