【Animal Modeling】-How to establish a rat model of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome?

Objective: To screen and compare the methods of establishing rat models of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and to provide an excellent animal model for the study of OHSS mechanism and the development of therapeutic drugs.

Methods: 60 3-5 weeks old Wistar and SD rats were randomly divided into groups and injected different doses of pregnant horse serum (PMSG) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to establish an OHSS model, which was established through physical examination and comprehensive evaluation of organ indicators The model measurement, blood progesterone, estrogen, VEGF concentration measurement method, has passed the naked eye disease.

Results: 3-week-old SD rats showed obvious ovarian hypertrophy, increased vascular permeability and serum VEGF levels. These are typical OHSS changes that are more suitable for establishing OHSS rat models.

Conclusion: Comparison and screening provide a reliable modeling method, and provide an excellent animal model for subsequent OHSS pathogenesis research and therapeutic drug development.
