【Animal Modeling】-Application of rodent tracheal intubation under direct vision guided by optical fiber

Objective: To establish a simple rodent intubation method, and use this method to establish various animal models that require tracheal intubation.

Method: Choose 60 male Kunmei mice anesthetized by midazolam and ketamine, pass the 22GA arterial puncture cannula with an optical fiber, insert the trachea through the oral guidance, connect the ventilator and connect the trachea, confirm the insertion.

Result: We successfully inserted 60 mice into the tracheal tube through the optical fiber. Seven days after the autopsy, there were no complications such as throat mucosal hemorrhage, glottis edema, and tracheal stenosis.

Conclusion: The success rate of fiber-mediated tracheal intubation in mice is high, and the incidence of related complications is low.
