【Animal Modeling】-Animal experimental study of two different types of left atrial appendage occluders

Objective: To evaluate the feasibility and safety of two different left atrial appendage occluders (single-disc cylindrical type and double-disc split type) for blocking the left atrial appendage of the target animal.

Method: 14 healthy experimental dogs used single-disc cylindrical or double-disc split left atrial appendage occluder to occlude the left atrial appendage via femoral vein, and intraoperative left atrial angiography. I evaluated the effect. Accidental death experiment Immediately check the macroscopic specimens to analyze the cause of death. The surviving experimental dogs were sacrificed 45, 80, 110 and 15 months after the operation. The occluded surface tissue was stained with HE, DAPI and CD31 immunofluorescence. Assess the degree of endothelialization.

Results: 6 experimental dogs used a single-disc cylindrical occluder to treat left atrial appendage obstruction, 5 experimental dogs died 30 minutes to 8 hours after surgery, one experimental dog survived for 15 months, and I was put to death. Blood clots on the surface of the experimental dog occluder survived. About one-fifth of the surface of the experimental dog occluder was not covered with new tissue; 7 experimental dogs were completely occluded, and the new tissue completely covered the surface of the occluder 110 days after the operation, HE and immunofluorescence Staining shows intact intima formation and new blood vessels can be seen.

Conclusion: After the single-disc cylindrical occluder is transplanted to the left atrial appendage, the incidence of acute thrombosis and immediate mortality are both high. The double-disc split left atrial appendage occluder is used for blocking related to the left atrial appendage device. After complications and left atrial appendage closure surgery, the 4-mesh cover plate was completely intact.
