[Animal Modeling]-Abnormal glucose metabolism leads to the acute weight change of SIVmac239 infected Beiping-topped monkey

Objective: To investigate the influence of inflammatory factors, lipid metabolism and glucose metabolism on body weight in the acute phase of AIDS.

Methods: To detect acute phase inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-6), lipid metabolism (cholesterol, triacylglycerol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) and glucose metabolism parameters (insulin) 、Insulin resistance index), compare the difference between the weight gain group and the weight loss group in SIV infection of Beiping-top monkeys, and use Pearson correlation analysis to explore the correlation between insulin resistance and plasma viral load.

Results: In the acute phase of SIVmac239 infection in Beiping-top monkeys, the four items of inflammatory factors and blood lipids were not significantly different between the weight gain group and the weight loss group; the insulin level of the weight gain group was significantly decreased, and the insulin level of the weight loss group was significantly increased. Insulin resistance performance; Pearson analysis showed that changes in the insulin resistance index at the 5th and 11th weeks after infection were positively correlated with the plasma viral load.

Conclusion: In the acute stage of SIVmac239 infection, abnormal glucose metabolism may be the main reason for the weight change of Beiping-top monkeys.
