Objective: To reveal the genetic pattern of the black-eye traits in white-haired black-eyed rabbits.
Method: Select white-haired black-eyed rabbits with black-eye mutation traits and their background strains, Japanese big-eared white rabbits, to construct 6 two-generation hybrid families. Observation and statistics of individual iris color traits of F1 and F2 generations produced by crosses, and the use of segregation analysis commonly used in genetic statistics methods to explore the genetic model.
Results: χ2 test showed that the observed value of iris color distribution obtained by hybridization experiment was not significantly different from the expected value of autosomal single-gene dominant inheritance mode (P>0.05), and it was different from the expected value of autosomal recessive inheritance and sex-linked inheritance mode Significant (P<0.05).
Conclusion: The black-eye mutation in white-haired black-eyed rabbits is a dominant trait caused by the mutation of a single gene on the autosome.
