Objective: To observe the estrous cycle of NOD/SCID mice and the changes of vaginal smear after ovariectomy.
Method: Observe the NOD/SCID mice continuously for 9 days, take vaginal smears twice a day, and calculate the estrus cycle time and incidence. After ovariectomy, vaginal smears and observation of vaginal smear changes.
Result: The estrus cycle of NOD/SCID mice is 4-6 days. Regularly estrus mice accounted for 80%. There is no obvious correlation between the state of the vaginal opening and the estrus cycle. After oophorectomy, the vaginal smear showed changes in late estrus or inter-estrus.
Conclusion: The vaginal exfoliated cell smear method can be used to determine the estrous cycle and characteristics of NOD/SCID female mice, and NOD/SCID female mice's ovariectomy surgery is effective.
