[Animal Modeling]-Pathological Analysis of Spontaneous Giant Tumors in Rats

Objective: To study the pathological characteristics of giant spontaneous tumors in Wistar and GK rats.

Methods: Observe the growth and survival of Wistar and GK rats with huge spontaneous tumors, surgically remove the tumors, and study their pathological characteristics by immunohistochemical staining.

Results: The weights of the two giant spontaneous tumors were 502 g and 119 g, which were 64% and 24% of the rat's body weight, respectively. The tumor surface had a complete envelope, and the boundary with normal tissues was clear. No tumor contained blood vessels. Pedicle-like structure. The results of pathological examination showed that it was confirmed to be benign fibroma.

Conclusion: Large spontaneous tumors in rats are benign fibrous tumors. Except that the tumor is too large to affect the activities of rats, it has no significant impact on survival.
