【Animal Modeling】-A model of primary epilepsy in waddling mice

  (1) Copy method Place the waddling mouse (tg/tg mouse) on the table without giving any stimulation, it can recur naturally. Animals showed absence seizures and simple localized seizures. Carefully observe and record the symptoms during the attack, the duration of each attack, and the interval between attacks. Each mouse needs to be continuously observed for 30 minutes.

  (2) The characteristics of the model: Absence seizures are: sudden stop of activities, bowed head, eyes wide open and staring, in a state of absence; simple localized seizures: short running, swaying, deep breathing, facial muscles appear first Group twitching, raising or abduction of hind limbs, or stepping on the table, sometimes the animal shows clonic movement, and each seizure lasts for 5 to 10 minutes. These two types of seizures can occur alone, or they can be converted from absence seizures to simple localized seizures.

  (3) Comparative medicine tg/tg mice are a typical model of primary hereditary epilepsy. Neurological symptoms appear in the mice about 2 weeks after birth. Unsteady gait is the most significant abnormal appearance, and hindlimb abduction , Occasionally tipping over, attacks begin in about 3 weeks, reach a peak in 4 to 5 weeks, and remain for life thereafter. The symptoms of tg/tg mice are similar to human absence seizures and simple localized seizures, so it is an animal model of primary absence seizures and simple localized seizures.
