Objective: To systematically evaluate the effect of musical stimulation on the brain function of offspring rats, and to provide a scientific basis for promoting the welfare of experimental animals and the application and development of musical prenatal education.
Methods: Pubmed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Wanfang, VIP, CNKI and China Biomedical Literature Database were searched by computer to comprehensively collect research literatures on the effect of musical stimulation on the brain function of offspring rats. The library was built until April 2, 2016. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the literature was selected, the quality of the literature was evaluated, and the data was extracted, and the data was qualitatively described.
RESULTS: A total of 7 experimental studies were included, 4 in Chinese and 3 in English. The research subjects were all rats, of which 5 studies used Wistar rats and 2 studies used SD rats. The music materials involved comfort music, classical music, violin concerto (Liang Zhu), and the intervention period ranged from pregnancy to before and after childbirth. The results showed that musical stimulation during pregnancy can promote the brain neurogenesis of offspring rats to a certain extent and improve spatial memory ability, but it has no significant effect on the expression of some functional receptors.
Conclusion: Appropriate music can promote the development of brain function in offspring rats.
