Objective To investigate the effect of non-professional processing wheat straw litter, corncob litter, shavings litter and paper litter on learning and memory ability of SPF Kunming mice (KM), and the effect of different litter on the behavior of mice. Influence.
Methods Twenty-four SPF grade KM mice were selected and reared with wheat essence litter, shavings, corncob and paper litter for 8 weeks. The MORRIS water maze behavioral experiment was carried out to investigate their behavioral changes and learning and memory ability. difference.
Results The learning and memory ability of the wheat straw group was significantly higher than that of the shavings group (P<0.05); during the water maze experiment, there was no significant difference in weight gain among the groups. The results of the positioning navigation experiment showed that the escape latency of the wheat straw group on the 5th day was significantly lower than that of the other three groups (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in other time periods. The swimming time was more than the other three groups.
Conclusion Different bedding materials have little effect on the body weight of KM mice in the water maze test. The effect of wheat straw bedding on the learning and memory ability of KM mice is better than that of shavings bedding and corncob bedding. It is recommended to use wheat straw bedding as the experimental material. Promote the use of animal contact litter.
