Objective: To establish a simple method for endotracheal intubation in rodents, and to establish various animal models requiring endotracheal intubation by this method.
METHODS: Sixty Kunming male mice were selected, and after midazolam and ketamine anesthesia, the 22GA arterial puncture needle cannula was passed through the optical fiber, and the trachea was inserted through the oral cavity, and the ventilator was connected to confirm the placement of the trachea.
RESULTS: All 60 mice were successfully implanted with tracheal intubation via optical fiber. There was no pharyngeal mucosal injury and hemorrhage, no glottis edema, and no complications such as tracheal stenosis occurred after 7 days of dissection.
Conclusion: The success rate of tracheal intubation in mice under optical fiber-mediated visualization is high, and the incidence of related complications is low.
