Objective: To understand the diversity of fecal flora of artificially reared tree shrew, and to provide the basis for the normal breeding and standardization of microbial quality control of tree shrew.
Methods: 10 tree shrew fecal samples were randomly collected, bacteria were isolated and cultured in aerobic and anaerobic medium, the bacterial genomic DNA was extracted, the 16S rRNA gene was amplified by PCR and sequenced for identification.
Results: In this experiment, 25 strains and 12 kinds of bacteria were isolated and identified by aerobic culture from the fecal samples of tree shrew, and 25 strains and 10 kinds of bacteria were isolated and identified by anaerobic culture, including Proteus, Enterococcus, Escherichia coli Genus, Shigella, Staphylococcus, Aeromonas, Lahenia, Raoultella, Exiguobacterium, Streptococcus, Leuconostoc.
Conclusion: The intestinal aerobic and anaerobic bacteria of tree shrew have rich species diversity, and Proteus vulgaris, Escherichia fergusonii and Enterococcus faecium may be the main parasitic flora of tree shrew gut.
