Recently, the reporter learned from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences that the research group of Di Duolong, the Northwest Key Laboratory of Characteristic Plant Resource Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, successfully separated and prepared high-purity deer blood polypeptides from deer blood by using a new technology independently developed. At present, the technology has passed the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements in Gansu Province and is being implemented for industrialization.
China is a big country for raising deer, and Gansu has the largest red deer breeding base in Northwest China. In 2011, Di Duolong was inspired by an academic report on the research on deer blood polypeptide of Northeast sika deer made by an academician. "The main functional component in deer blood is deer blood polypeptide, which has the functions of lowering blood pressure, enhancing immunity, and anti-fatigue. The red deer in Gansu is different from the sika deer in Northeast China, and the biological activity of deer blood polypeptide is different. Also different, and therefore, the molecular structure and biological activity are very different." Back in the lab, the research team dissected red deer blood. Dr. Liu Yongfeng from the laboratory told reporters: "In the past, the laboratory mainly dealt with plants. Plants are small-molecule compounds with simple structures and easy to separate. Peptides are macromolecular compounds, and how to separate them is the biggest challenge."
In the subsequent experiments, the research team successfully extracted high-purity and biologically active deer blood polypeptides with the core technology of compound enzyme enzymolysis technology and porous adsorption material multi-stage tandem separation and purification technology. The technology has the characteristics of high process yield (>80%), high product purity (polypeptide content can reach 65% to 98%), low production cost, and high safety (the whole production process is green and environmentally friendly). The scientific and technological achievements of Gansu Province are identified as: the research results have reached the international advanced level of similar research.
Di Duolong said that after the separation and preparation of deer blood polypeptide, the research and development did not end there. Instead, he developed deer blood polypeptide effervescent tablets for the market, and turned this scientific research result into a terminal product. According to Yang Xuzhong, general manager of Gansu Qilianshan Biotechnology Development Co., Ltd., it is expected that the industrialized production line for extracting deer blood polypeptide will be completed and put into operation by the end of this year, which can process 100 kilograms of deer blood per day.
