Objective To compare the behavioral differences of learning and memory ability of C57BL/6J, BALB/c and ICR strain mice.
Methods According to the strain, 10-week-old male C57BL/6J, BALB/c, ICR strain mice were divided into three groups, with 10 mice in each group. Learning and memory ability of mice.
Results In the open field test, the total moving distance, large moving distance, speed, percentage of moving distance in the central area, and staying time in the central area of the C57BL/6J group were less than those of the ICR group and the BALB/c group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01, P <0.05); the small movement distance of C57BL/6J group was more than that of ICR group and BALB/c group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01, P<0.01). The staying time in the target area was longer than that in the BALB/c group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01, P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the spontaneous conversion rate, dwell time and times of entering the arms among the three groups of mice in the Y-maze test. There was no significant difference in the percentage of freezing time among the three groups of mice in the conditioned fear experiment.
Conclusion Among the three strains, C57BL/6J mice have the lowest spontaneous activity, the highest level of anxiety in open field experiment, and better spatial reference memory than ICR group and BALB/c mice. There is no significant difference in spatial working memory and spatial recognition memory among the three strains.
