【Animal Modeling】-Results and Analysis of Laboratory Testing Ability for Salmonella in Laboratory Animals

Objective: Through the proficiency testing plan for Salmonella detection in laboratory animals, to understand the detection ability of laboratory animal testing institutions for Salmonella, and to improve the quality detection level of laboratory animals.

Methods: According to the proficiency testing program approved by CNAS, the fecal samples of experimental animals containing Salmonella and interfering bacteria were prepared by freeze-drying method, and passed the stability and homogeneity tests as proficiency testing samples. Using a random number, it will be distributed to the participating units through cold chain transportation, and a work instruction will be attached. Submit the inspection report and the copy of the original record within the specified time limit, and the result will be judged as a satisfactory result if the result is consistent with the sample pre-inspection result, and the unsatisfactory result will be judged if it is inconsistent or fails to submit the result.

RESULTS: A total of 30 laboratories in 20 provinces and cities across the country participated in the Salmonella proficiency testing project, of which 28 laboratories obtained satisfactory results, accounting for 93.3% of the total participating institutions, and 2 laboratories were dissatisfied, accounting for 6.7%. Twenty-nine laboratories adopted the method of isolation and culture, and 2 laboratories adopted the method of PCR.

Conclusion: Laboratory animal quality testing institutions have high detection ability of Salmonella, and the implementation of proficiency testing plan can reflect the testing level of laboratories.
