Objective To observe the effect of Naoshuantong Capsule on blood lipid levels in atherosclerotic mice, and to explore the mechanism of Naoshuantong Capsule in the treatment of stroke.
Methods Six-week-old male ApoE-/- mice were given a high-fat diet to establish an atherosclerosis model. After successful modeling, they were randomly divided into a model group, a low-dose Naoshuantong capsule group, and a high-dose Naoshuantong capsule group. The low-dose group was given Naoshuantong capsule 0.5 g/kg body weight, the high-dose group was given Naoshuantong capsule 1.0 g/kg body weight, and the control group was given the same amount of distilled water. After 12 weeks of continuous administration, blood was collected from the abdominal aorta, and the serum was separated. Enzyme-coupled colorimetry was used to determine serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), and high density lipoprotein cholesterol. lipoprotein-cholesterol, HDL-C) levels.
Results Compared with the model group, both the low-dose and high-dose Naoshuantong Capsule groups significantly decreased the levels of TC, TG and LDL-C in serum, but had no effect on the content of HDL-C.
Conclusion Naoshuantong Capsules can regulate blood lipid levels, and its mechanism of action in the treatment of stroke is likely to be related to this pathway.
