【Animal Modeling】-The effect of behavior box shape on the experimental results of novel object recognition in mice

Objective To study the application effect of novel object recognition experiment in the evaluation of learning and memory ability of ICR mice.

Methods Forty ICR mice, half male and half male, were randomly divided into 4 groups, square female group (square behavior box female mouse group), square male group, round female group and round male group. According to the same experimental procedure of novel object recognition, the exploration time of the mice in each group was measured.

Results There was no significant difference in the exploration time and the resolution ratio of new objects between the Fang female group and the Fangxiong group, and the round female group and the round male group (P>0.05). Compared with the square group (square female group + Fangxiong group) and the round group (round female group + round male group), there was no significant difference in the discrimination ratio of new objects (P>0.05), but the total exploration time of the circle group was significantly longer than that of the round group. Fang group (P<0.01).

Conclusion In the new object recognition experiment, gender does not affect the evaluation of the learning and memory ability of mice. Selecting the circular behavior box for the experiment can better evaluate the learning and memory ability of mice.
