【Animal modeling】-The effect of long-term consumption of Polygonum multiflorum on the hematopoietic system of mice

Objective: To investigate the changes of mouse hematopoietic system after long-term consumption of Polygonum multiflorum.

Methods: Mice were randomly divided into 2 groups, control group, fed with normal diet; Polygonum diet group, fed with Polygonum multiflorum feed, after 10 months, the mice were sacrificed, and the peripheral blood, spleen, thymus were analyzed by flow cytometry and various cells in the bone marrow.

RESULTS: In the Polygonum multiflorum diet group, the spleen B cells increased, the thymus CD4+ cells increased, and the CD8+ cells decreased; the bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells were significantly decreased, among which the quiescent cells increased and the proliferation and division cells decreased.

Conclusion: Long-term moderate consumption of Polygonum multiflorum can help to slow down the aging of the hematopoietic system in mice and maintain the stability of the hematopoietic system.
