【Animal Modeling】-Ginkgo biloba extract has been shown to promote ischemic brain injury repair and regeneration in mouse experiments

Researchers from the University of Toledo found that Ginkgo biloba extract EGB 761 can promote ischemic brain damage repair and regeneration.

The research of Ginkgo biloba extract in the treatment of senile dementia has been carried out to the stage of clinical trials, but its repairing effect on ischemic brain injury is less studied.

The research team led by Prof. Zahoor A. Shah, Department of Medicine and Biochemistry, School of Pharmacy, University of Toledo, USA found that Ginkgo biloba extract EGB 761 can not only increase the number of neural stem cells in mice after stroke, but also promote the migration of neural stem cells to the ischemic area .

In addition, Ginkgo biloba extract EGB 761 can also increase the expression of Wnt that triggers the Wnt/Wnt/β-catenin pathway and promote endogenous regeneration.
