【Animal Modeling】-Influencing Factors in the Analysis of Serum Glucose in Rats

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of serum glucose measurement and analysis in rats.

Methods Two biochemical analyzers, two methods of reagents or rat serum samples under different storage conditions were used to detect glucose levels.

Results There was no significant difference in the results of the two biochemical analyzers for the determination of serum glucose in rats (P>0.05), and the correlation was good (correlation coefficient r was 0.994). But the correlation is good (correlation coefficient r is 0.999); there is no significant difference between the results of immediate serum determination and 4 ℃ storage for 4 h and 24 h (P>0.05), and the correlation is good (correlation coefficient r is 0.999) There were significant differences between the immediate measurement of serum and the measurement results of -20 ℃, -80 ℃ cryopreservation for 1 month (P<0.01), and the correlation was good (correlation coefficient r was 0.999).

Conclusion When conducting animal experiments related to the determination of serum glucose in rats, attention should be paid to the consistency of the testing equipment, reagents, and sample storage conditions used to ensure the quality of the analysis stage of the sample testing process.
