Objective To understand the composition of SPF golden hamster milk, and to compare it with other rodent (mouse, rat, guinea pig) milk, rabbit milk, cow milk and infant formula.
Methods According to national standards, the basic nutritional components in golden hamster milk were determined by Kjeldahl method, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), etc.; amino acid content was determined by amino acid automatic analyzer.
Results The main nutritional components of 100g golden hamster milk were as follows: water 86.4g, protein 6.94g, fat 2.70g, lactose 2.21g; mineral elements calcium 120.00mg, magnesium 20.10mg, phosphorus 82.05mg, zinc 1.470mg, etc.; 16 species Amino acids, the total content of hydrolyzed amino acids is 61 mg/g, and the content of essential amino acids is 24.4 mg/g, accounting for 40% of the total amino acids.
Conclusion Golden hamster milk has the characteristics of high protein, low fat and low lactose, which provides a scientific basis for the preparation of sterile golden hamster formula milk.
