【Animal modeling】-Pathological characteristics of chronic progressive nephropathy in rats

Objective: To accumulate data for the pathogenesis and related pathological research of chronic progressive nephropathy in rats.

Methods: 60 imported SD rats, 120 domestic SD rats, and 240 domestic Wistar rats were given imported feed and domestic feed, respectively, and were continuously reared for 104 weeks, then slaughtered, and the rat kidneys were collected and routinely prepared. After special staining, the changes of tissue morphology were observed under microscope, and the incidence and lesion characteristics of CPN in rats of different strains, genders, and diets were summarized and compared.

Results: The glomerular capillary basement membrane and mesangial hyperplasia and segmental sclerosis were the first lesions of CPN, and the degeneration and regeneration of renal tubular epithelium and interstitial fibrosis were the secondary changes; the total incidence of CPN was The incidence of CPN in Wistar rats was higher than that in SD rats; the incidence of CPN in imported SD rats was higher than that in domestic SD rats. ; The incidence of CPN in rats fed a diet high in protein was higher than that in rats fed a diet low in protein.

CONCLUSION: Glomerular lesions are first, leading to secondary changes in renal tubules. CPN has a higher incidence, there are differences between genders and strains, and the incidence of CPN is different with different dietary protein content.
