Objective: To determine and compare basal serum cytokine levels in healthy rhesus monkeys and cynomolgus monkeys.
METHODS: Serum of 15 healthy rhesus monkeys and 15 healthy cynomolgus monkeys were collected respectively, and the concentrations of 43 cytokines in serum were determined by luminexxMap technology. According to the results of normality test (W test), random t test or nonparametric test ( Mann-Whitney test) to compare differences between groups.
Results: Among the 43 cytokines measured, 1 pro-inflammatory factor (IL-15), 3 anti-inflammatory factors (IL-1RA, IL-6Rα and sCD27) and 1 chemokine (CCL5/RNATES) were significantly present. Differences between sexual groups.
Conclusion: The results of the study show that there is no significant difference in the basic serum cytokine levels between rhesus monkeys and cynomolgus monkeys, and they are comparable in biomedical research. At the same time, the results of this study can provide basic data for related research.
