【Animal Modeling】-Establishment of basic data of embryo-fetal developmental toxicity test in Bama miniature pigs

OBJECTIVE: To detect the reproductive function indicators and fetal developmental indicators of the embryo-fetal developmental toxicity test in Bama miniature pigs, and to provide reference data for the developmental toxicity study of Bama miniature pigs.

Methods: The fetuses of 12 female Bama minipigs were necropsied on the 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th, 100th, and 112th day of gestation, and the number of corpus luteum, implantation, live fetus, and absorbed fetus were counted. and the number of stillbirths, the fetal body length, tail length, and brain diameter were measured, and internal organs and bones were examined after X-ray photography.

RESULTS: The gender of the fetuses of the Bama miniature pigs at 40 days of gestation was recognizable, and the visceral organs and skeletal system were basically developed. The normal values and standard deviations of the developmental indicators of the minipig fetuses at different gestation days were obtained, and the 95% confidence intervals were obtained.

Conclusion: Bama miniature pigs can be used as the observation object of embryo-fetal developmental toxicity test. The basic data obtained in this study can provide background reference data for evaluating the reproductive toxicity test of exogenous compounds.
