OBJECTIVE: To understand the development of refractive status and eye diameter of two strains of guinea pigs Zmu-1:DHP and DHP after weaning.
Methods: First, the 3-week-old guinea pigs of two strains of guinea pigs were tested for refraction, and then 12 Zmu-1:DHP strain guinea pigs and 8 DHP strains were selected and divided into two groups according to the strain. parameters such as axial length and corneal curvature.
Results: 327 Zmu-1:DHP strain guinea pigs at 3 weeks old had a diopter of -5.19±3.92 D, and the myopia rate was 85.1%; while 117 DHP strain guinea pigs had a diopter of 2.13±4.40 D, and the myopia rate was only 22.6%. 4-12 weeks old, Zmu-1:DHP strain guinea pigs had myopia progressively deepening, and anisometropia >1.5 D; DHP strain guinea pigs had stable refractive development. t-test, Zmu-1:DHP strain guinea pigs had axial length and depth of vitreous cavity The visual acuity was significantly higher than that of the DHP strain, and the visual acuity was lower than that of the DHP strain. Multivariate analysis of variance, Zmu-1: DHP strain guinea pig astigmatism changed significantly with time (P<0.01), while DHP strain was not significant (P=0.07). Correlation analysis, Zmu-1: The correlation coefficient between the refractive state of the DHP strain and the axial length of the guinea pig was -0.79 (P<0.01), and the correlation coefficient with the depth of the vitreous cavity was -0.75 (P<0.01); while the corresponding correlation coefficient of the DHP strain was -0.19 ( P=0.09) and -0.34 (P<0.01).
Conclusion: The Zmu-1:DHP strain has a high incidence of myopia, and the emmetropia process is difficult to complete, and its myopia is highly correlated with the axial length and the depth of the vitreous cavity.
