OBJECTIVE: To investigate the proportion of positive and suspicious antibodies against four cynomolgus monkeys BV, SRV, SIV and STLV-1 introduced from Laos, and to monitor the dynamic changes of the four viruses during the establishment of the SPF population, so as to compare the general population and the positive rate of virus antibodies in juvenile monkeys in the SPF population.
Methods: The four viruses were continuously monitored and compared and analyzed by using special kits.
Results: In the 1998 cynomolgus monkeys introduced, the BV antibody positive rate was as high as 52.35%, the suspicious rate was 8.31%, and the antibody negative rate was only 39.34%; the positive rates of SRV and STLV-1 antibodies were 7.45% and 8.56%, respectively; Cynomolgus monkeys that were positive or suspicious for SIV antibodies were detected. The SPF population established after screening, the positive rates of BV, SRV and STLV-1 virus antibodies monitored in 2010 were 5.24%, 1.01% and 0.4%, respectively. After five consecutive years of continuous screening and elimination, as of the end of 2014 The positive rates of antibodies to the three viruses decreased to 0.82%, 0.27% and 0.27%, respectively, and no SIV antibody positive or suspicious cynomolgus monkeys were detected. The positive rate of B virus antibody in the normal group of breeding monkeys was 9.71%, and the suspicious rate was 1.85%; while the positive rate of B virus antibody in the SPF breeding group was only 0.22%.
Conclusion: Continuous monitoring of viral antibodies and continuous elimination of antibody-positive and suspicious animals are of great production significance for the establishment of SPF cynomolgus monkey populations.
