Objective: To study the genetic background of SPF large white and landrace pigs imported from Canada by Harbin Veterinary Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Methods: 19 pairs of microsatellite primers were used for population genetic analysis of the population.
RESULTS: 84 alleles were detected in 19 loci in Large White pigs, and 89 alleles were detected in Landrace pigs. The average polymorphic information content and average heterozygosity of Large White pigs were 0.5271 and 0.5877, respectively; the average polymorphic information content and average heterozygosity of Landrace pigs were 0.5652 and 0.6066, respectively. S0155, S0143, S0178, Sw857 and Sw936 loci were significantly different in size and content of alleles (P<0.01) and could be used as candidate loci for identification of Large White and Landrace pig breeds. The results of F-statistics and mobility analysis showed that the differentiation within the population was small and the genetic structure was stable.
Conclusion: Compared with some domestic purebred large white pigs and landrace pigs, the genetic structure of imported plus line SPF purebred large white pigs and landrace pigs is more stable, and can be used as experimental animal models for animal medicine and scientific research.
