【Animal Modeling】-Expression of BDNF, trkB and ChAT mRNA and protein in the brain of adult Chinese shrew

OBJECTIVE: To observe the mRNA and protein expressions of BDNF, trkB and ChAT in the brains of adult Chinese shrew.

Methods: The mRNA and protein expressions of BDNF, trkB and ChAT were detected in the hippocampus, basal ganglia and cortex of adult Chinese burman tree shrew by q-PCR and Western blotting.

Results: The BDNF mRNA in the adult tree shrew brain was the highest in the hippocampus, which was significantly different from the basal ganglia and cortex (P<0.01). p="">0.05). The expression of BDNF protein in the brain of adult tree shrew was the highest in the basal ganglia, which was significantly different from that in the hippocampus or cortex (P<0.01).

Conclusion The mRNA expression of ChAT in the hippocampus, basal ganglia and cortex of adult tree shrews is consistent with the protein expression, but the mRNA expression of BDNF and trkB does not correspond to the protein expression. It is speculated that BDNF/trkB in the brain of tree shrew has a more complex regulation pattern at the transcriptional level than ChAT, and tree shrew may be a good animal to study the influence mechanism of BDNF/trkB gene expression.
