【Animal modeling】-Relieving effect of formononetin on osteoporosis in Ⅱ diabetic rats

Objective To explore the alleviating effect of formononetin on osteoporosis in rats with type Ⅱ diabetes complicated with diabetic bone disease.

Methods The type Ⅱ diabetic rat model was established by the combination of streptozotocin (STZ) and high-fat diet. The diabetic model rats were given high, medium and low mass concentrations (100 mg/kg, 50 mg) by gavage respectively. /kg and 20 mg/kg) formononetin for 2 weeks, the femoral bone mineral density, serum testosterone (T) and estradiol (E2) levels, and femoral osteocalcin (OC) were detected in each group of rats. ), renal CYP24A1 mRNA expression levels.

Results Compared with the normal group, the bone mineral density, serum T and E levels, femoral OC and kidney CYP24A1 mRNA expression in the type Ⅱ diabetes group were all decreased. Formononetin could reverse the above phenomenon, and the high concentration group had the best effect. .

Conclusion Formononetin has a relieving effect on osteoporosis in rats with type Ⅱ diabetes complicated with diabetic bone disease.
