Objective To observe the effect of long-term administration of Fumikang vaginal suppository on blood physiology and biochemistry of rabbits, and to provide scientific basis for clinical safety medication.
Methods Fumikang vaginal suppository extract powder was administered vaginally at doses of 8.586, 2.856, and 0.952 g/kg body weight once a day for 6 consecutive months, and the blood physiological and biochemical indexes were examined.
Results After 6 months of administration of Fumikang vaginal suppository, the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin content and hematocrit in the 8.568 g/kg dose group of Fumikang vaginal suppository powder were significantly increased compared with the vehicle control group (P<0.05), 4="" returned="" to="" normal="" after="" weeks="" of="" drug="" withdrawal.="" there="" was="" no="" significant="" difference="" in="" other="" indicators="" hematology="" compared="" with="" the="" vehicle="" control="" group="" p="">0.05). After 6 months of administration and 4 weeks after drug withdrawal, each administration group had no significant effect on blood biochemical indexes.
Conclusion The long-term administration of Fumikang vaginal suppository at 2.856g/kg has no effect on the blood physiology and biochemistry of rabbits, suggesting that the safe dose of Fumikang vaginal suppository is below 2.865g/kg, which is 20 times the intended dose for clinical adults (adults are based on 60kg body mass meter).
