Objective: To study the effect of selenium-enriched rice bran instead of organic selenium supplementation on the growth performance and antioxidant function of young rabbits.
Methods: 60 35-day-old weaned rabbits were randomly divided into ordinary rice bran group, organic selenium group and selenium-enriched rice bran group, 20 rabbits in each group, half male and half male, and fed with ordinary rice bran feed, ordinary rice bran plus organic selenium feed, and The selenium-enriched rice bran feed was fed for 30 days in total, and the daily feed consumption was recorded. The body weights of the experimental rabbits were weighed on the 0th, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th days of the experiment, and the weight ratio of the experimental rabbits in each group was calculated. After the feeding, the serum of each group of experimental rabbits was collected to detect blood glucose, uric acid, total protein, albumin, globulin content, albumin/globulin ratio and serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity, Superoxide dismutase activity (SOD), catalase (CAT) activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) content; the livers, spleens, and kidneys of experimental rabbits in each group were collected and weighed, and the visceral index of each group was calculated. Detection of renal selenium content.
Results: Compared with the ordinary rice bran group, there were no significant differences in the daily weight gain, feed-to-weight ratio, organ index, kidney selenium content and the above blood biochemical indexes between the organic selenium group and the selenium-enriched rice bran group (P>0.05), but The activities of GSH-Px and SOD in the Se-enriched rice bran group, and the activities of GSH-Px and CAT in the organic selenium group were significantly higher than those in the ordinary rice bran group (P<0.05), and the MDA content in both groups was significantly lower than that in the ordinary rice bran group (P<0.05). P<0.05), and the antioxidant capacity of Se-enriched rice bran group and organic selenium group were comparable.
Conclusion: The effect of selenium-enriched rice bran on the growth performance and antioxidant function of young rabbits is comparable to that of organic selenium, and it can replace organic selenium as the source of selenium in the feed of young rabbits.
