Objective To analyze the blood pressure of domestic cats and their sensitivity to histamine in the examination of antihypertensive substances, so as to provide reference for the use of domestic cats.
Methods After combined anesthesia in domestic cats, carotid artery blood pressure and sensitivity to different doses of histamine were measured according to the antihypertensive substance test method of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and the data were analyzed.
Results In this study, the blood pressure and sensitivity to histamine of domestic cats were not correlated with body weight. The blood pressure response value of domestic cats caused by histamine was proportional to blood pressure. Domestic cats with blood pressure values in the range of 16-18 kPa had the highest number of repeated use. The blood pressure and sensitivity to histamine of domestic cats were not significantly reduced after repeated use for 6 times of drug antihypertensive substances (P> 0.05); < 0. 05), the sensitivity to histamine decreased significantly at the 8th repeated use (P < 0. 05), but still met the requirements of the "Chinese Pharmacopoeia" antihypertensive substance test method for sensitivity of domestic cats.
Conclusion The blood pressure and sensitivity to histamine of domestic cats are relatively stable, and they can be repeatedly used in the test of antihypertensive substances.
