OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of hyaluronan on antidepressant, and to preliminarily explore its possible mechanism of action.
Methods: Using the mouse model of chronic unpredictable mild stress, the sugar water preference experiment was used to evaluate the anhedonia in mice treated with hyaluronan, and the content of serum corticosterone in mice was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The contents of various neurotransmitters in mouse cortex and hippocampus were detected by MS/MS.
RESULTS: Hyaluronic acid could reverse the decrease of sugar water preference index and the increase of serum corticosterone level caused by CUMS. Compared with the normal group, the contents of related neurotransmitters in the cortex and hippocampus of the model group mice were significantly changed, while The administration of xylin has a significant regulatory effect on related neurotransmitters in CUMS mice.
CONCLUSION: Loxylin may achieve antidepressant effects by reducing serum corticosterone levels and regulating neurotransmitters in the brain.
