Objective: To evaluate the effect of Henggu bone wound healing agent on blood physiological indexes and organ coefficients of castrated tree shrew osteoporotic fracture model.
Methods: Thirty female tree shrews were divided into control group, model group and treatment group. The tree shrew in the treatment group and the model group underwent 6-month resection of bilateral ovaries to confirm osteoporosis and then cause tibial fractures. From the day after the fracture, the treatment group was intragastrically administered with Henggu bone wound healing agent, once every two days; the model group and the control group were intragastrically administered with the same amount of normal saline. After 3 months of gavage, blood physiological indexes and organ coefficients of tree shrews in each group were detected.
RESULTS: Among the 16 blood physiological indexes, the number of white blood cells, the absolute value and percentage of lymphocytes in the model group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01), and the percentage and absolute value of monocytes were also decreased (P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the percentage and absolute value of monocytes in the treatment group were significantly increased (P < 0.01), the absolute value and percentage of lymphocytes and the number of white blood cells were significantly increased (P < 0.05), and the spleen coefficient of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the model group group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Henggu bone wound healing agent can improve the immunity of osteoporotic fractured tree shrew.
