[Animal Experiment]-Comparison of Adipose Tissue Sections of Chinese and Burmese Tree Shrews under Cold Acclimation

Objective: To study the morphological changes of adipocytes in Burmese tree shrews during different periods of cold acclimation, and establish the morphological basis for whether cold acclimation can induce beige adipocytes in white adipose tissue.

Method: compare the sections by hematoxylin-eosin staining, immunohistochemical staining, and immunofluorescence staining.

Results: With the extension of low temperature adaptation time, the morphology of white adipocytes and brown adipocytes in brown adipose tissue decreased significantly, and the expression of uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) increased. At the same time, browning occurred in the subcutaneous white of the abdomen. It is also possible in tissues to produce some light brown fat cells with UCP1 expression, namely beige fat cells.

Conclusion: Different stained sections can not only clearly observe the morphological changes of fat cells, but also the changes in UCP1 expression can be observed from the positive color of the antibody, which is essential for studying the fat tissue of the ponies.
