[Animal modeling] - 3D reconstruction of lungs and 3D printing model of vessels in miniature pigs

Objective To explore the method of 3D reconstruction model of miniature pig lung and the application of 3D printing model.

Methods Four Bama mini pigs were anesthetized for CT angiography of the lung. The data were obtained by using MIMICS software to reconstruct the lung segment tissue structure, and 3D printing of the physical model of the pulmonary vessels.

Results Based on the 3D model reconstructed from CT angiography data, the anatomical structure of pulmonary vessels and bronchial 3~4 grade branches in miniature pigs was clearly displayed, and the lobar fissure and some intersegmental planes were displayed, which could be rotated and scaled at will.

Conclusion The lung anatomical model of Bama miniature pig can be successfully created by using 3D reconstruction and 3D printing technology, which provides a basis for comparative medical research and training materials for thoracic surgery.
