[Animal modeling] - Establishment of long-term depression mouse model and observation of behavioral and neuropathological characteristics

Objective To construct a new model of long-term depression in mice, and compare the advantages and disadvantages of this model with common depression models.

Methods LTD mice were constructed by early separation of mother and infant and continuous chronic stress after weaning. The long-term depression like behavior changes were compared with chronic unpredictable mild stimulation model and early stress model mice, and the changes of hippocampal neurons were compared between eGFP transgenic LTD mice and control mice.

Results Compared with CUMS and ELS mice, LTD mice showed more stable depression in behavior for a longer time, and histological sections showed that the CA1 and CA3 regions of the hippocampus of LTD mice showed degenerative degeneration.

Conclusion The LTD mice were successfully constructed. This model mice can lead to more long-term depressive behavior and show long-term psychological stress state, which is a model mice suitable for long-term simulation of depressive state.
