[Animal modeling] Establishment of inflammation model of BALB/c mice infected with influenza A virus

Objective: To analyze the pathogenicity of influenza A virus with mouse inflammatory animal model

Methods: Three different influenza A viruses A/swine/Jiangsu/C1/08 (H9N2) (H9C1), A/swine/Shanghai/731/2009 (SD731), A/Puerto Rico/8/34 (H1N1) (PR8) × 106TCID50 intranasally infected 5-week old BALB/c mice, observed clinical symptoms, and detected the viral load and inflammatory factor level in lung tissue

Results: In the pathogenicity experiment of BALB/c mice, the level of inflammatory reaction and virus replication of lung tissue induced by SD731 and PR8 viruses were significantly higher than those of H9C1, the mortality of SD731 was 80%, and that of PR8 was 100%; H9C1 virus infection was accompanied by weight loss, but the mice did not die

Conclusion: The inflammatory model of influenza virus infection in mice has been successfully established
